Board of Directors
Director
Jason Gallourakis Jason was raised to love history, preserve landmarks and treasure historical artifacts. His grandparents' former home is a national historic landmark (Benjamin Lundy House in Mt. Pleasant, Ohio), and his mother co-founded the historical society in his hometown (Capac, Michigan), where he grew up in a 1906 farmhouse his parents restored and filled with antiques and historical items. Jason holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Health Care Management and Pre-Law from Ohio University as well as a Juris Doctor from The Ohio State University. Jason’s professional background includes labor and employment law and various leadership roles in health care management and human resources management. His last role before retiring was Vice-President of Talent Development at Nationwide Insurance in Columbus, Ohio, where he led the corporate learning and development function that supported the learning needs of more than 32,000 employees, leaders and executives across the country. Jason feels blessed to have been able to retire early so that he can devote more time to his hobbies and personal passions – with history being one of them! Following his retirement in 2017, Jason and his husband, Edwin, moved to Venice, where his parents had also retired. Charmed by Venice and its history, Jason joined VAHS in 2018 and currently volunteers on the Development Committee, the Communications Committee, the Centennial Planning Committee and is the Chairperson of the Governance Committee. As a board member, Jason hopes to utilize his skills in strategic planning, governance and organizational effectiveness to build upon VAHS’s many achievements and continue to advance our goals of preserving and celebrating our area's unique history! |
